Learning is not compulsory… neither is survival

As soon as you learn how to do something, the software or the technology changes and you have to learn something new. Digital photography and indeed the digital office are producing more and more files which need to be managed in order that they can be found when needed.

Many of us have spent a lovely afternoon browsing through a box of old family photos. Can you imagine trying to do that in the digital age? Firstly where are the photographs, and then imagine finding a box of discs (full of treasured memories) that you can no longer open?

Digital Asset Management is the fancy name for filing your photographs, and whether you are managing a family worth of pictures or a National Collection the principals are the same. I have the experience and knowledge to provide you with training in everything you require from downloading your camera (you really should do that!) to Photoshop post-production, and on to saving, managing, and migrating the images to new storage.

There are many solutions available for Digital Asset Management, however there isn’t a magic box into which you can put all your images, where a “sorting fairy” will do all the work! The key to DAM is applying order from the moment you download the images. If you work out a strategy from the start then you can indeed avail of the services of the “sorting fairy”

Working smarter and quicker using the latest versions of Photoshop, Lightroom, and other software will allow you to make much better use of your time.

Remember that even in a family or small business context you have a financial or emotional investment in your images or other digital assets, and not having them available is the same as not having them at all!

I have provided consultancy & training services to several government bodies, as well as private companies and individuals.

Drop me an email and let me see if I can help you with your business!
